Heinrich Bruno Freiherr von Steinaecker (born January 11, 1788 in Brumby , † January 10, 1861 in Berlin ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

Heinrich Bruno was the son of the district administrator of the Calbe district Friedrich Wilhelm von Steinaecker (1745-1824) and his wife Josepha, née Freiin von Blomberg (1749-1818). His older brother Friedrich (1781–1851) also embarked on a military career and made it up to general of the infantry , another brother Heinrich (1782–1862) became a Prussian colonel and commandant of Kolberg.

Military career

In 1802, Steinaecker joined the Infantry Regiment "Prince Loius Ferdinand" of the Prussian Army as a private corporal and on April 8, 1806 he became an ensign . As such, he took part in the Battle of Auerstedt with his regiment in mid-October 1806 during the Fourth Coalition War. On April 13, 1807, Steinaecker joined the 1st Neumark Reserve Battalion. With the promotion to Second Lieutenant on December 30, 1807, he was transferred to the 1st Pomeranian Infantry Regiment . On November 3, 1810, he resigned from service on half pay .

On May 6, 1813 Steinaecker was employed again and assigned to the 2nd Reserve Battalion of the 9th Colberg Infantry Regiment . In the Wars of Liberation Steinaecker fought in the battles near Dennewitz and Leipzig , took part in the assault on Arnhem and the battle near Düren . For his achievements in Antwerp he was awarded the Iron Cross, 2nd class. On April 1, 1815, Steinaecker became Premier Lieutenant in the 1st Rhenish Landwehr Infantry Regiment. At the end of May 1816 he came to the 34th Infantry Regiment , where Steinaecker was promoted to captain and company commander on October 18, 1818 . From March 17, 1820 to March 29, 1835 he served in the 36th Infantry Regiment and was promoted to major in command of the 2nd Battalion of the 13th Landwehr Regiment. For two years from March 30, 1837 he acted as commander of the 1st battalion. Steinaecker was then transferred to the 16th Infantry Regiment and promoted to lieutenant colonel on March 22, 1845 . From November 26, 1848 he was in command of Koblenz and in this capacity was promoted to colonel on January 4, 1853 .

Steinaecker was granted his retirement and retirement on May 15, 1856 while being promoted to major general . He died in Berlin in 1861 and was buried in Brumby.

Steinaecker married Agnes von Asseburg (1805-1884) on February 12, 1824 . The marriage resulted in four sons and four daughters.
