Karl Friedrich Christian Anton Conta , von Conta since 1825 , (born December 13, 1778 in Erfurt , † December 27, 1850 in Weimar ) was a German politician.

Life

He was the son of Christian Erdmann Conta, a senior escort from Erfurt.

Conta attended the Evangelical Ratsgymnasium Erfurt in 1793/97 and then the University of Erfurt . From 1805 he was in diplomatic service, from 1806 as the Weimar Legation Secretary in Warsaw , and later in Vienna and Paris . In 1815 he became Legation Councilor , in 1841 Legation Secretary and finally in 1845 President of the Weimar Regional Office . He was involved in the negotiations for the establishment of the German customs union .

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the reign of Grand Duke Karl August of Saxe-Weimar , he was elevated to the Saxon-Weimar-Eisenach nobility on September 3, 1825 in the form of gracious recognition of his older Italian (also Huguenot ) professional status .

In Weimar he was a friend of Goethe , and from 1805 a member of the Academy of Non-Profit Science . Conta is buried in the historical cemetery in Weimar .

family

Conta married on May 18, 1809 in Merxleben with Friederike Weiß (1785–1842). She was the daughter of the linen manufacturer Christian Andreas Weiß from Langensalza and his wife Viktoria Wilhelmina, née Schmied. The following children were born from the marriage:
