Karl von Frankenberg and Proschlitz (born May 4, 1746 on Bodland , † September 22, 1819 in Alt-Damm ) was a Prussian major general and commander of the 30th Infantry Regiment .

Life

origin

His parents were Balthasar Kaspar Heinrich von Frankenberg and Proschlitz , heir to Lessa, Buchwald and Little Germans, and his wife Angelika, née von Siegroth.

Military career

Karl von Frankenberg and Proschlitz came to Berlin as a cadet on July 5, 1759. On January 9, 1763, he was transferred to the "Stutterheim" infantry regiment as a private corporal . On November 2, 1763 he became an ensign , on October 16, 1766, second lieutenant and on April 28, 1774, prime lieutenant . As such, he took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession . Then he was on March 1, 1783 staff captain and on April 2, 1786 captain and company commander . On May 10, 1792 he was promoted to major and from November 29, 1792 he was battalion commander.

In the First Coalition War against France he fought at the siege of Mainz, the battle of Kaiserslautern , the battle near Frankenthal and the blockade of Landau. For his bravery in the siege of Mainz, he received the order Pour le Mérite . On March 12, 1799 he was regimental commander, on May 28, 1800, lieutenant colonel and on May 31, 1802, colonel . During the Fourth Coalition War he was in the corps of Duke Karl August von Weimar . After the defeat he was inactivated on August 10, 1807 with half pay. On September 23, he was granted retirement , but on April 19, 1814, he was appointed major general. He died on September 22, 1819 in Alt-Damm.

He married Henriette Ernestine Elisabeth Philippine von Borcke on June 30, 1788 in Schochow (* December 28, 1767, † September 22, 1819). The couple had the following children:
