Karl von Rumohr

Karl Albert von Rumohr (born December 27, 1900 in Opole ; † August 8, 1967 in Baden-Baden ) was a German administrative officer and district administrator of Wittgenstein , Iserlohn and Mährisch-Ostrau and president of the Federal Office of Administration .

Life

Karl von Rumohr came from the old Holstein family of Rumohr . From 1907 to 1917 he attended the humanistic grammar school in Hildesheim. After graduating from high school at Easter 1917, he was obliged to do military service and was employed as a gunner until December 1917.

From 1919 v. Rumohr law and political sciences at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen . With Hans Joachim von Busse he became active in the Corps Bremensia . As an inactive , he moved to the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen and the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . He was promoted to Dr. iur. PhD. On October 13, 1922, he was appointed court trainee at the Calenberg District Court . In 1923 he was appointed government trainee in Osnabrück. After the Grand State Examination in 1929, he was employed on September 10, 1929 as a government assessor at the Brilon district office . In December 1932 he moved to the Glatz district office . On May 1, 1933 , he joined the NSDAP ( No. 1.991.281) and was transferred to the Prussian Ministry of the Interior in May 1933 , where he was appointed government councilor in September 1933 .

On October 1, 1933, he was deputy district administrator of the Wittgenstein district , and from November 4, he took over provisional administration of the district. From April 12, 1935 to May 31, 1935, Karl von Rumohr was district administrator for the Wittgenstein district. As early as March 12, 1935, he was deputy district administrator in Iserlohn, from April 1, 1936 he was district administrator of the Iserlohn district . From May 16, 1939, he was seconded to the Mährisch-Ostrau regional council district and in November 1939 he was appointed to the Mährisch-Ostrau regional councilor.

On May 1, 1942, he was delegated to the Cologne district government . On August 1, 1942, Karl von Rumohr took over the post of Vice President of the Government in Breslau and was appointed on March 1, 1943. On July 8, 1944, he was seconded to the military administration in France .

Because of his involvement in the events of July 20, 1944 , von Rumohr was arrested by the Gestapo in Breslau and banned from working, as well as being drafted into the Wehrmacht . From December 1944 to May 1945 he was committed to military service.

After returning from captivity in May 1945, he became federal manager of the German Association of Officials in May 1949 . On November 7, 1949, he was promoted to Head of Division in the Federal Ministry of the Interior and on September 13, 1950 to the Ministerialrat. On June 25, 1951, he was also appointed head of the Federal Compensation Office of the Federal Ministry of the Interior (from 1955 Federal Office for Administrative Affairs ) in Cologne. This authority was responsible for accommodating the displaced members of the public service.

On December 22, 1958, he was appointed the first President of the Federal Agency (since January 14, 1960 of the Federal Office of Administration ) and expanded the agency from 15 employees to over 650 employees. He retired on December 31, 1965.

He was with Edith geb. Larisch married. There are three children from the marriage.
