Karlheinz Blessing
Karlheinz Blessing (born May 12, 1957 in Eislingen / Fils ) is a German manager . He was a member of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG and was responsible for human resources and organization.
Life
Blessing grew up on the Stumpenhof, where his father farmed as a sideline . After graduating from the Erich-Kästner-Gymnasium, he studied economics in Konstanz . In 1984 he received his doctorate. rer. soc. (Doctor of Social Sciences ).
Career
Blessing became a member of the SPD in 1974 while still at school ; At times he was a member of the Juso state board of Baden-Württemberg . Since 1984 Blessing worked for IG Metall in Frankfurt , where he became the office manager of Franz Steinkühler and earned the reputation of "organizer" there. Until 1991 he was a member of the IG Metall management board. In 1991, Blessing was proposed by the then SPD chairman Björn Engholm as federal manager of the SPD and elected for two years. With Engholm's resignation in the course of the drawer affair (May 3, 1993), Blessing also left. In January 1994 he became a member of the board and labor director of AG der Dillinger Hüttenwerke and DHS - Dillinger Hütte Saarstahl AG. In February 2011 he was appointed CEO of AG der Dillinger Hüttenwerke and DHS - Dillinger Hütte Saarstahl AG. In February 2012 he was also appointed Chairman of the Board of Management of Saarstahl AG, making him the first manager since Roland de Bonneville (1930–2007) to simultaneously head both Saarhütten.
In December 2015, the Supervisory Board of Volkswagen AG appointed him the new Chief Human Resources Officer with effect from January 1, 2016. In spring 2018, Blessing left VW.
