Karlsbach is a village in the cadastral municipality of the same name on the northern edge of the Ybbsfeld in the Lower Austrian Mostviertel . It belongs to the market town of Sankt Martin-Karlsbach and has 309 inhabitants (2001 census).

Until 1970 Karlsbach was an independent municipality, to which, in addition to the village of Karlsbach, the localities Ennsbach and Pfaffenberg belonged, until it was merged with St. Martin am Ybbsfelde in the course of the Lower Austrian municipality reform .

In 1160 Karlsbach was first mentioned at the same time as the castle located there. Significant remains of the once mighty castle are still preserved today. It is privately owned and can only be viewed from the outside. A landmark of the place is the bell tower on the state road on the 15 meter high Taborberg.

The pen is a region outside the village. The three farmhouses Lang, Klinger and Gruber used to be there. Today it has almost grown together with the town center.
