Qatar-Jurt ( Russian Катар-Юрт , former spelling Katyr-Jurt, Катыр-Юрт ; Chechen Котар-Юрт ) is a village (selo) in the Republic of Chechnya in Russia with 12,806 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The place is located on the northern edge of the Greater Caucasus about 30 km as the crow flies southwest of the republic capital Grozny on the Schalascha, on the right Assa tributary of the Schalascha and its tributary Netchoi.
Qatar-Yurt belongs to Rajon Atschchoi-Martanowski and is well 7 km east-southeast of the administrative center Achkhoy-Martan . The settlement is the seat and only locality of the rural municipality Qatar-Yurtowskoje selskoje posselenije.
history
The village, founded in 1790, bore the Russian name Tutowo during the period of deportation of the Chechen population from 1944 to 1957 .
During the Second Chechnya War , the village was attacked and shelled by the Russian army from February 4, 2000, which resulted in the deaths of around 25,000 people, including 16,000 refugees, of around 25,000 people, including 16,000 refugees. As a result, there were several trials of these events at the European Court of Human Rights , in which the Russian state was found guilty and sentenced to millions in damages, most recently in 2010.

Qatar-Yurt is located on the regional road coming from Assinovskaya via Achchoi-Martan and continuing in the direction of Urus-Martan - Staryje Atagi , which runs parallel to the federal highway R217 Kawkas (formerly M29) about 10 kilometers south .
