Katharina Al-Shamery (born October 19, 1958 in Eutin , born von Puttkamer ) is a German chemist and professor at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg . Her specialty is physical chemistry .

Live and act

After graduating from Käthe-Kollwitz Gymnasium Wilhelmshaven , Al-Shamery studied chemistry from 1977 to 1983 at the Georg-August University of Göttingen , interrupted by a year abroad in 1980/81 at the University of Paris-Süd in Orsay , France . In 1989 , Al-Shamery received his doctorate from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH), Switzerland, on High resolution interferometric FTIR-spectroscopy of the hydrogen bonded (HF) 2 and further isotopomeres of monomers, dimers and higher polymers of gaseous HF and then worked for two years as a postdoc at the University of Oxford in the UK in the group of physical chemistry worked. From 1991 to 1996 she was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Bochum , where they over Stereodynamical investigations of the UV laser induced desorption of small molecules from oxidic surfaces habilitated . From 1996 to 1998 she was a postdoc at the Fritz Haber Institute of the Max Planck Society in Berlin. In 1999 she was briefly professor for physical chemistry at the University of Ulm , but in the same year she switched to a C4 professorship for physical chemistry at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg. In 2006 she was founding director of the Center of Interface Science (CIS) at the Universities of Oldenburg, Osnabrück and Bremen .

Since 1999, Al-Shamery has been supervising numerous domestic and foreign doctoral candidates at the Carl von Ossietzky University in Oldenburg, often funded by the DAAD .
