Katharina Sure

Katharina Klar (born April 9, 1987 in Vienna ) is an Austrian actress .

Life

Katharina Klar grew up in Vienna- Floridsdorf as the oldest of four sisters. In 2003 she gained her first stage experience in the Himalaya from Volker Schmidt at the dietheater Künstlerhaus Wien . From 2006 she studied acting at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz , graduating in 2010 with the artistic diploma thesis How does salt come into the sea based on the novel by Brigitte Schwaiger .

Schauspielhaus Graz

In the 2008-09 season she had at Schauspielhaus Graz , a first engagement as Hermes and Nausicaa in the Odyssey by Ad de Bont . From the 2009/10 season she was a permanent member of the ensemble at the Schauspielhaus Graz, where in 2011 she was awarded the Audience Award of the Association of Friends of the Schauspielhaus Graz Pro Bühne as the best young actress in 2010/11. There she embodied the role of Mary Warren under the direction of Anna Badora in Arthur Miller's witch hunt , Princess Lena in Leonce and Lena under the direction of Bernadette Sonnenbichler , Sofja Alexándrowna in Chekhov's Uncle Wanja and Solvejg in Ibsen’s Peer Gynt . She was also there in the world premiere of The Reconstruction of the Haider Monument by Oliver Kluck , directed by Christina Rast , as Lucy in Brecht's Threepenny Opera , as Helena in a Midsummer Night's Dream in a production by Viktor Bodó , in Bartleby or Sicherheit a feeling from Boris Nikitin and as Alkmene in Kleist's Amphitryon .

In 2014 she also played in Aller Tage Abend based on the novel by Jenny Erpenbeck at the Wiener Schauspielhaus .

Volkstheater Vienna

At the beginning of the 2015/16 season, Klar moved together with artistic director Anna Badora from Graz to the Vienna Volkstheater , where she was part of the ensemble until the 2018/19 season. In June 2018 she was awarded the Dorothea Neff Prize for the best acting performance of the 2017/18 season. This season she was seen in an interlaced production of Iphigenie in Aulis with Stefano Massini's contemporary drama Occident Express , directed by Anna Badora, also in a stage version by George Orwell's 1984 , in the world premiere of Do-gooders by Yael Ronen as Klara and in the Austrian premiere of the musical Lazarus by David Bowie and Enda Walsh . In January 2019 she was there in the world premiere of a dramatization of the novel Watschenmann by Karin Peschka .

In the 2019/20 season she moved to the Theater in der Josefstadt , where she made her debut as Rebekka in an overwriting by Ibsens Rosmersholm at the side of Herbert Föttinger as Johannes and Joseph Lorenz as Kroll. At the Volkstheater she continues to play as a guest, for example as Ruby Bates in Only Horses you give the coup de grace based on the novel of the same name by Horace McCoy .
