Kathrin-Julia Hendrich (born April 6, 1992 in Eupen , Belgium ) is a German - Belgian soccer player . She has been under contract with Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg since July 2020 .

Hendrich began her career at the age of seven in her hometown at FC Eupen in 1963 , before joining FC Teutonia Weiden after four years in the summer of 2003 . For the 2009/10 season she left the club from Würselen and moved to the second division club Bayer 04 Leverkusen . With Leverkusen the promotion to the Bundesliga succeeded this season . There she made her debut on August 15, 2010 (1st matchday) in the 9-0 defeat in the away game against FCR 2001 Duisburg . On September 25, 2011, she scored her first Bundesliga goal in the game against Lokomotive Leipzig when she made it 1-0. Hendrich can be used as a central defender or defensive midfielder .

On February 13, 2014, Hendrich announced her move for the 2014/15 season to 1. FFC Frankfurt, where she received a contract dated June 30, 2016. She won the UEFA Women's Champions League final with the Frankfurt team on May 14, 2015 .

For the 2018/19 season she was signed by FC Bayern Munich , for which she made her debut on September 23, 2018 (2nd matchday) in a 4-0 home win against MSV Duisburg with a substitute for Jill Roord in the 76th minute. She scored her first Bundesliga goal for FC Bayern Munich on December 2, 2018 (10th matchday) in a 1-1 draw in the away game against SC Freiburg with the equalizer in the 17th minute.

On June 30th, 2020 it became known that Hendrich was leaving Bayern Munich. For the 2020/21 season , she was signed by league rivals and German champions VfL Wolfsburg and given a contract dated June 30, 2022.

National team

Kathrin Hendrich made her debut in the national jersey on April 11, 2007 in Buckinghamshire for the U-15 national team in a 2-0 victory over England. In the following four games in 2007 it was also used. For the U-16 national team , she played eight internationals , the first time on October 30, 2007 in Wiesloch in the 7-0 victory over France, the last time on July 5, 2008 in Reykjavík in the 5-0 victory over France in the Competition for the Nordic Cup . She took part in both the U-19 European Championship 2010 in Macedonia (out in the semifinals against France) and in the following year in Italy, in which she and the team advanced to the final against the selection of Norway, the German team won after an 8-1 win. In October 2011 Hendrich made her debut for the U-20 national team in a friendly against Belgium , with which she took part in the 2012 World Cup. The team reached the final without conceding a goal, but lost 1-0 against the USA and became vice world champions.

On February 24, 2014, Hendrich was invited to take part in the Algarve Cup 2014 and was therefore appointed to the senior national team for the first time . On March 5, 2014, she made her debut there in the 5-0 opening win against the Icelandic national team in Albufeira , when she came into play for Lena Goeßling in the 62nd minute .

On May 24, 2015, she was deleted from the final squad for the 2015 World Cup in Canada by national coach Silvia Neid .

For the European Championship 2017 in the Netherlands, Steffi Jones took Hendrich into the German team ; which was eliminated in the quarterfinals against Denmark, Hendrich came to a use.

The new national coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg called Hendrich for the World Cup 2019 to the German team .

Hendrich is the daughter of a Belgian and a German and therefore has both nationalities. She was a student at the District Administrator Lucas-Gymnasium in Leverkusen, which she graduated with the Abitur in 2012, and is now studying "Educational Science" at the FernUniversität in Hagen.
