Kendrick Le'Dale Perkins (born November 10, 1984 in Beaumont , Texas ) is an American basketball player who was active for most of his professional career in the NBA . In 2008 he won the NBA championship with the Boston Celtics .
High school
Perkins attended Clifton J. Ozen High School in Beaumont , where he won a title. In his senior year, he averaged 27.5 points, 16.4 rebounds and 7.8 blocks. In 2003 he was at the McDonald's All-American Game, to which the best high school players in the country are invited.
Professional career
Perkins skipped college and was selected 27th in the 2003 NBA draft by the Memphis Grizzlies , but was transferred straight to the Celtics along with Marcus Banks for Troy Bell and Dahntay Jones . In its debut season, the center was only used in ten games, but in the next season played in the rotation and played 60 matches with an average of nine minutes per game. The breakthrough came in 2005/06 when he was used in 68 matches, of which he started in 40 and thus played his way into the core team.
Perkins had previously only played in weak Celtics teams (they only reached the first round of the playoffs in 2005, but were eliminated directly), Boston was radically redesigned in 2007. Manager Danny Ainge swapped a large part of his team for the two superstars Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen . Perkins became Garnett's man for the rough, and became champions as a rotation player (25 minutes on average) with Boston.
On February 24, 2011, the Boston Celtics transferred Kendrick Perkins along with Nate Robinson in exchange for Jeff Green and Nenad Krstić to the Oklahoma City Thunder . There he signed a contract extension a short time later, which binds him to OKC for another 3 years. For the trade deadline 2015, Perkins was sent from Thunder to Utah Jazz, together with Grant Jerrett, a first-round pick (2017) and the draft rights at the German center Tibor Pleiß . In the Jazz Perkins did not play a single game and was later given to the New Orleans Pelicans .
