Kent Stephen Manderville (born April 12, 1971 in Edmonton , Alberta ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who played for the Toronto Maple Leafs , Edmonton Oilers , Hartford Whalers , Carolina Hurricanes , Philadelphia Flyers and Pittsburgh from 1988 to 2007 Penguins played in the National Hockey League .
Career
Kent Manderville began his career as a hockey player with the Notre Dame Hounds, for which he was active in the 1988/89 season in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League . He was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft 1989 in the second round as a total of 24th player by the Calgary Flames , for which he however never played. Instead, he first attended Cornell University for two years , for whose ice hockey team he played hockey at ECAC parallel to his studies . In 1990 he was named Rookie of the Year at ECAC Hockey. From 1991 to 1995 the center played for the Toronto Maple Leafs in the National Hockey League , while at the same time it was on the ice for their farm team St. John's Maple Leafs in the American Hockey League . In the 1995/96 season he began exclusively in Toronto's AHL farm team, before he was given in December 1995 in exchange for Peter White and a four-round vote for the NHL Entry Draft 1996 to the Edmonton Oilers . For Edmonton he completed three goals and five assists in 37 games by the end of the season.
The 1996/97 season spent Manderville in the NHL with the Hartford Whalers , for whose AHL farm team Springfield Falcons he played parallel. After the Hurricanes were relocated after the season, he played for two and a half years for their successor team Carolina Hurricanes before he was transferred to the Philadelphia Flyers in March 2000 in exchange for Sandy McCarthy . After almost exactly two years across the seasons, he moved within the NHL to Philadelphia's arch-rival Pittsburgh Penguins . From 2003 to 2006 the Canadian competed for the Timrå IK in the Swedish Elitserien . He last played in the 2006/07 season for the Espoo Blues in the Finnish SM-liiga before ending his career at the age of 36.
International
For Canada , Manderville took part in the U20 World Junior Championships in 1990 and 1991 , where he won the gold medal with his team. In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer , where he won the silver medal with Canada.
