Enrique "Kike" García Martínez (born November 25, 1989 in Motilla de Palancar ) is a Spanish football player who plays on the position of a striker .

Career

society

García started playing football at CD Quintanar del Rey . In 2007 he moved to Real Murcia's youth ; there he moved to the second team a year later. Another year later he moved into the professional squad of Real Murcia in the Segunda División . He made his debut for the team on May 23, 2009 against Celta Vigo (2-2). In the 2009/10 season he was often used as a joker, in the following season he was often not in the squad. After two games, he contracted a bone infection and was replaced by other strikers in Murcia. In the 2012/13 season he had many starting eleven and was able to score a total of 7 goals in 36 games for his team during the season. The following season he missed just a single game and scored 23 goals in the Segunda División. In addition, his team played after the season in qualifying for the Primera División , but was eliminated against Hércules Alicante in the first round.

After that season he moved to Middlesbrough FC , who paid 2.25 million euros for the Spaniard. In Middlesbrough's first season in the Championship , García scored 9 goals in 42 league games. At the end of the season, the team just missed promotion, as they failed in the final of the promotion round to Norwich City .

In the next season García moved in the winter transfer phase after 19 league games and 4 goals to SD Eibar . In the second half of the 2015/16 season he was not eligible to play due to the short-term change. The following season he also missed part of the season due to a broken leg . However, he managed to score 7 goals in 24 games in the league. In 2017/18 he played a very good season and was in the forward position. Afterwards he fluctuated again and again between the starting eleven and the bench. This remained the case in 2019/20 .

National team

García played in the Spanish U20 national team , for which he scored two goals in four games. He also took part in the U20 World Cup in 2009 , in which Spain was eliminated in the round of 16 against Italy .
