Eduardo "Edu" Expósito Jaén (born August 1, 1996 in Cubelles ) is a Spanish football player who has been under contract with the first division club SD Eibar since summer 2019 .
Club career
Deportivo La Coruña
In Cubelles around Barcelona born and raised Edu Expósito played in his youth in the junior departments of Catalan clubs CF Cubelles , CF Vilanova and CF Gavà . In summer 2015 he joined the Galician club Deportivo La Coruña , where he was assigned to the reserve team Deportivo B. He made his debut in the fourth-rate Tercera División on August 23, 2015, when he came on as a substitute in the 1-0 away win against CD Boiro in the closing stages. His first goal he succeeded on 13 September at the 1: 1 draw against Alondras CF . Expósito quickly established himself as a regular player and later rose to become the team's captain.
His strong performances in the reserve meant that he was allowed to train more often with the first team in the 2016/17 season . On May 7, 2017 (36th matchday), he made his debut in the 1: 2 defeat against Espanyol Barcelona at home in Estadio Riazor in the Primera División . During this season he was promoted to the third-class Segunda División B with the B team . On October 13, 2017, he signed a new five-year contract with Dépor . In the 2017/18 season he played 27 league games for Deportivo B, in which he scored five goals. In addition, he made five competitive games for the senior team. With the reserve he reached second place in the table and qualified the promotion play-offs, but where they failed at Extremadura UD .
After Dépor's relegation to the second highest Spanish league , he became a regular in the first team under the new coach Natxo González in the 2018/19 season . On December 8, 2018 (17th matchday), he scored his first goal of the season in a 2-2 draw against CD Numancia . During this season he was used in 39 league games, in which he collected two goals and five assists. With Deportivo La Coruña he missed promotion in the final of the play-offs against RCD Mallorca .
SD Eibar
On July 13, 2019, Edu Expósito moved to the first division club SD Eibar for a transfer fee of four million euros , where he signed a five-year contract. He made his debut on August 17th (1st matchday) in the 1: 2 away defeat against RCD Mallorca. On September 29 (7th matchday) he scored his first goal for his new club and his first goal in the LaLiga in a 2-0 home win against Celta Vigo . In this 2019/20 season he was able to convince as a regular player in midfield and scored four goals in 35 league appearances.
