José Ángel Valdés Díaz (born September 5, 1989 in Gijón , Asturias ), better known under the short name José Ángel or his nickname Cote , is a Spanish football player. He is under contract with the Spanish first division club SD Eibar . His position is in left-back defense .

At a young age, José Angel Valdes played at Club Deportivu Roces (1994-1996), later at Club Deportivu La Braña (1996-1997). In 1997 he moved to the Escuela de Fútbol de Mareo football school at Sporting Gijón . From 2009 he rose to the professional team via the B team. In 2011 he received a contract with AS Roma until June 30, 2016, but could not prevail in Serie A in Italy and was awarded to Real Sociedad in 2012 .

On March 15, 2009 he scored his first goal in the Primera División in the game against Deportivo La Coruña . In 2011 he became European champion with the U-21 national team of Spain in the final against Switzerland in Denmark.
