Killed by 9V Batteries is an Austrian band from Weiz in Styria . It is the most famous band of the guitarist and singer Wolfgang Möstl , who is also active in Mile Me Deaf and Sex Jams , among others .

Band history

Killed by 9V Batteries was founded in 2002 by the then still young band members Mario Loder (drums) and Wolfgang Möstl (vocals, guitar). After two months, they performed live for the first time at a rock against right concert. With a demo they managed to get a record deal with the independent label Siluh , which is directed by actor Robert Stadlober .

Her self-titled debut album was released in 2006, followed by the two 2008 albums Neuhass and Escape Plans Make It Hard to Wait for Success . In the same year they take part in an action staged by Stadlober and Patrick Wagner called Fuck You All as part of Popkomm . In 2009 she was nominated for the Amadeus Austrian Music Award in the "Alternative / Rock" category. In 2010 a split LP with Picture Eyes followed .

Their last album The Crux was released in 2011. In 2014 Wolfgang Möstl disbanded the band.

Music style and meaning

The indie rock band processes influences from 1990s indie bands such as Dinosaur Jr. , Sonic Youth or Pavement and old AmRep bands and Dischord bands from the emopunk subgenre . They take an experimental approach and sometimes use unusual formats such as a 3.5 ″ floppy disk to distribute their music. Occasionally, they are also referred to as garage rock , a categorization they don't particularly like. The singing is a bit like a placebo . Occasionally the band is also assigned to grunge .
