Kimmelsbach is a district of the Lower Franconian municipality of Bundorf in the Haßberge district .

geography

The church village is located in the north-western part of the district on the slope of the Rottenstein Forest in the Baunachtal . The state road 2275 from Bundorf to Hofheim leads through the town. In the south of the farming village, the Kimmelsbach, a right tributary of the Baunach, flows past.

history

The place name probably goes back to the personal name Kunimund, "Bach place of a Kunimund". It is also conceivable that the epithet comes from caraway .

In 1302, Kimmelsbach was mentioned for the first time in a document with "Conradus Forestarius de Kunomundisbach" as a witness in a document from Count von Wildberg. In 1303/1313 Theino and Karl von Lichtenstein were awarded tithe in "Kunemundesbach". In 1373 Hans and Heinz von Lichtenstein owned the tithe in "Kümelßbach". In 1412 Dietz Truchseß received from Wetzhausen the interest in "Kümelbach".

In 1862 Kimmelsbach was incorporated into the newly created Bavarian district office of Königshofen . In 1871 the place had 230 inhabitants, of whom 229 were Catholics, and 51 residential buildings. In 1900 the rural community was assigned to the newly founded District Office Hofheim . The 454 hectare rural community had 227 residents, all but two of whom were Catholic, and 50 residential buildings. The responsible Catholic parish was in Bundorf, 1.5 kilometers away, and the Catholic denominational school was there. In 1925 the place counted 206 people, 200 were Catholics and 6 Protestants, in 44 residential buildings.

In 1950 the church village had 243 residents and 45 residential buildings. In 1961, Kimmelsbach had 189 residents and 45 residential buildings. The village belonged to the evangelical parish of Schweinshaupten, 4.7 kilometers away . In 1970 there were 178 and in 1987 133 inhabitants and 40 residential buildings with 43 apartments.

On July 1, 1972, as part of the regional reform, the Hofheim district was dissolved and Kimmelsbach became part of the Haßberg district. On May 1, 1978, the municipality was incorporated into Bundorf.
