The Kimmer Bäke is a river in the Lower Saxony district of Oldenburg . It is the larger source stream and thus the hydrological upper course of the Berne , which has become the upper course of the Lower Ollen through the artificial division of the Ollen .

course

The 12 km long stream flows in the communities of Dötlingen , Hatten and Hude . It has its source in the Rhader Sand forest, southwest of Nuttel . From there it flows in a northerly direction through the Nutteler Moor, past Dingstede to the east, crosses under the Autobahn 28 at Kirchkimmen and flows further north. To the southwest of Hude, the Kimmer Bäke joins the Brookbäke to form Berne .

At the sand trap near Vielstedt , shortly before the estuary, extensive work was carried out in 2014 to renaturate the Kimmer Bäke. The water course was desludged, Weser gravel was brought in and the bank area was fortified.

art

In cooperation with Wolf E. Schultz and the Kirchkimmen farmers, the Artesian Fountain was built in 1985 as a memorial for peace. Due to the physical principle of the communicating pipes, the groundwater pushes out of the borehole two meters above the ground. The water runs off into the Kimmer Bäke without disturbing the natural cycle. The fountain is on the street An der Kimmer Bäke in Kirchkimmen, 20 meters from Bremer Straße .
