Building description

The Roman , with a saddle roof covered Saalkirche has a retracted transverse rectangular choir tower with a small vestibule . In 1798 renovations were carried out. The windows in their current form were broken in and the tower was given an additional storey made of half-timbering , which was covered with a half- hip roof. Two steel bells hang in the tower, the small one was made in a bell foundry in Apolda in 1920 , the large one was cast in 1962. The arched portal is on the south side. Its walls are still purely Romanesque, the wooden door leaf has iron fittings from the early Gothic period. The year 1798 is written on the wind direction indicator , since a major overhaul of the church equipment took place.

As part of the renovation in 1911, a decorative stencil painting with angel figures was created in the interior by the painter Fritz Bethge from Meerane . In a conche there is an old sacrament house , the iron door of which was replaced in 1911. Opposite him is the old parsonage . Two wooden epitaphs for children hang on the west wall.
