description

The hall church was built in the neo-Gothic style in 1904/05 . It has a cruciform floor plan , the church tower in the west and a choir with five-sided closure in the east. The tower has ashlar plaster instead of corner stones and a diagonal gable roof from which a graceful roof turret rises. Three steel bells from 1922 ring in the tower. The tower and nave are supported by buttresses . During a renovation in the 1970s, the interior was divided into two floors to make space for community rooms on the lower floor. The choir will also be separated by a wall and the sacristy located south of the choir will be removed. The choir with neo-Gothic church furnishings such as the altar , pulpit and baptismal font is still in use today. The services take place on the upper floor. An organ by Friedrich Ladegast had stood in Oberndorf since 1906 . It was replaced in 1975 by an organ with 7 registers , divided into a manual and a pedal , which Richard Kreutzbach had built for the village church in Wilchwitz in 1886 and which lay people moved to the church in Oberndorf.
