The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Terpitz in the church district Leisnig - Oschatz in northern Saxony is located in the rural area between Oschatz, Riesa and Strehla .

history

Until 1800

A manor Heinricus de Tirpcz is mentioned in documents around 1286. In 1297 the margrave Vogt zu Oschatz called himself Moritz von Terpitz . Around 1500 a parish church (Archidiakonat Dompropstei, sedes Oschatz / Mn) is listed. Little is known of the previous Gothic building.

The current 1711-1712 built on the Terpitzer cemetery church was on the first Advent 1712 consecrated . The baroque church with a right-angled nave is covered by a hipped roof with an octagonal ridge . At the end there is an octagonal lantern with an onion-shaped hood with a gold-plated ball and weather vane . In the lantern is the chime from 1628, consisting of three bronze bells.

From 1800

Renovation work was carried out in 1874. The rectory was built in 1800 and the farm buildings around 1812. A new school building was also built around 1800 for 16,730 RM . The roof and electrical systems were renewed in the 1990s. The roof turret, the roof structure, the external plaster and the two stained glass windows could be renovated with funds from the Foundation for the Preservation of Church Monuments in Germany (KiBa). The Terpitz Church has been part of the Borna Evangelical-Lutheran parish since 2011 .

Furnishing

The interior is kept simple and harmonious. The altar from 1712 is located on the east wall. Two columns above the altar table support a cranked cornice with a bulky roof. To the side of the altar are two pedestals with flames, probably made of sandstone . Two colored lead-glazed side windows from 1909 in the chancel depict the birth of Christ and the risen Savior.

In the western part of the nave there are two-storey galleries and the organ gallery , on the north wall was the once glazed manor of the Mannschatz manor . The organ was created by organ builder Hermann Eule from Bautzen around 1886. The font from the 14th century is from the previous building.

Peal

The current ringing consists of three hard-cast iron bells from the Schilling and Lattermann bell foundry in Apolda and was cast in 1955 - when the new bells came, the small bronze bell found its new home in the Schmannewitz church . The bell cage consists of a steel construction like the bell yokes. The three bells from 1955 have the following features:

No. Casting date Caster diameter Dimensions Chime
1 1955 Bell foundry Schilling and Lattermann 990 mm 430 kg H
2 1955 Bell foundry Schilling and Lattermann 770 mm 200 kg dis´´
3 1955 Bell foundry Schilling and Lattermann 650 mm 119 kg fis´´
