Klas Horn

Klas Horn af Björneborg (born September 15, 1583 in Narwa , † August 22, 1632 in Windsheim ) was a Swedish Imperial Councilor and Governor General of Swedish Pomerania .

Life

After completing his studies in his home country, Horn accepted a position as the personal page of the Saxon Elector Christian II in 1600 , where he stayed for three years. In 1605 he returned to Sweden and became stable master of Crown Prince Gustav II Adolf . In 1612 he became Reichsstallmeister.

After the outbreak of the Russian War , he traveled to Swedish Livonia and served under his brother Evert Horn from 1614 to 1615 . Klas Horn became court marshal and governor of Stockholm in 1616, and after the Peace of Stolbowo he was promoted to imperial council in 1617. He became Imperial Marshal in 1620 and was governor of Eskilstuna , Ulfvesunds , Västerås and the district of Väsby with Skinnskatteberg and Väster-Dalarna from 1622 to 1624 . From 1624 to 1631 he was also governor of Upland and governor of the Royal Palace and Uppsala Castle . In 1631 he moved to Stralsund and became Governor General in Swedish Pomerania.

Horn is buried in Uppsala Cathedral.

Klas Horn was a son of Carl Henriksson Horn and Agneta von Dellvig . His brothers were Evert Horn, Gustaf Horn and Henrik Horn .

Since 1618 he was married to Ebba Leijonhufvud.
