Klaus Rüter

Klaus Rüter (born January 13, 1940 in Berlin ) is a German lawyer , civil servant and politician ( SPD ).

Life

Klaus Rüter was born on January 13, 1940 in Berlin. After graduating from high school in Birkenfeld in 1959 , he began studying law at the universities of Saarbrücken , Berlin and Frankfurt am Main , which he completed with two state exams. In 1970 he entered the administrative service as a government assessor, initially worked at the Ministry of the Interior of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate and, after joining the civil service, worked from 1972 to 1981 as district law director in the Kusel district .

Rüter joined the SPD in 1969, was a member of the Palatinate District Assembly from 1979 to 1994 and served as District Administrator of the Donnersbergkreis from 1981 to 1991 . He was elected to the state board of the SPD Rhineland-Palatinate and was state chairman of the Social Democratic Community for Local Politics (SGK) for ten years . From 1991 to 1994 he was State Secretary in the Ministry of the Interior and for Sport, and from 1994 to 2003 under Prime Minister Kurt Beck as State Secretary and Head of the State Chancellery of Rhineland-Palatinate . In addition, he was a member of the ZDF television council .

Klaus Rüter is married and has two daughters.
