Klaus Schwickert

Klaus Schwickert (born November 24, 1931 in Brackwede ; † October 27, 2019 ) was a German politician ( SPD ), honorary district administrator and Lord Mayor of Bielefeld .

Life

After attending elementary school and secondary school , he completed an apprenticeship as an orthopedic shoemaker . Later he retrained to become an electric welder . This was followed by employment at the Bielefeld employment office . He passed the first and second administrative exams here and was most recently employed as a career advisor .

Schwickert became a member of the SPD in 1955. He was represented in numerous branches of the SPD and was among other things chairman of the SPD district association Bielefeld. Since 1948 he was a member of the Public Services, Transport and Traffic Union .

Schwickert's father-in-law was the former city ​​director of the city of Brackwede , Wilhelm Generotzky .

He was a member of the district council of the former Bielefeld district from 1961 until the regional reform on December 31, 1972. From July 24, 1966 to May 27, 1975 Schwickert was a member of the Landtag of North Rhine-Westphalia . He was directly elected in both legislative periods in the constituency 142 Bielefeld-Land I. From 1973 to 1989 he was a member of the Bielefeld City Council .

From 1979 to 1989 he was a member of the Regional Assembly of the Regional Association of Westphalia-Lippe . In addition, he was from November 6, 1967 to December 31, 1972 District Administrator of the Bielefeld district. He was Lord Mayor of Bielefeld from 1975 to 1989.

He was active in various committees of the district council of North Rhine-Westphalia .

In 1987 the Federal President awarded him the Cross of Merit 1st Class of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.
