The city of Strehlitz was probably founded after 1250, its first documentary mention comes from the year 1327. Strehlitz was a regular settlement around a market square and had city fortifications. After its destruction by the Hussites in 1428, the place on the old road from Krappitz to Neustadt did not get beyond the importance of a market town. In 1532, the immediate town of the Schelitz rule , whose town charter was renewed in 1524, only consisted of 90 town houses.

In 1531 the place name was mentioned in the Latin form Parva Streletz , and in 1535 as Klein Streletz . This differentiated it from (Groß) Strehlitz .

In 1742 Strehlitz came to Prussia . When the Archipresbyterate in Oberglogau was divided, an archpriest was established in Klein Strehlitz - a dean's office in Klein Strehlitz still exists today. The inhabitants of Klein Strehlitz were always Catholic. In 1861 there were 1,370 residents of Catholic and 13 Protestant denominations and 15 of the Jewish faith. Until it died out in 1769, the Counts of Proskau shaped the history of the town and the rule of Schelitz for several centuries, which came into the possession of the Prussian treasury in 1782 . In 1815, Klein Strehlitz lost its town charter, but the local council continued to call itself the magistrate. From 1818 to 1945 it was part of the Prussian district of Neustadt OS , before that it had belonged to the Opole district. On April 1, 1894, Oratsch was incorporated into Klein Strehlitz.

In October 1896, Klein Strehlitz was connected to the railway network with the Neustadt-Gogoliner Railway.

After the First World War, a referendum was held in Upper Silesia in 1921 on further state membership. In Klein Strehlitz, 1,381 votes (87.5%) were cast in favor of remaining with Germany and 198 (12.5%) in favor of joining Poland - Klein Strehlitz remained with Germany. In 1939, 1,875 people lived in Klein Strehlitz.

In 1945 the place fell to Poland as Strzeleczki . Today, the majority of the German minority live in Klein Strehlitz. The Society of German Speakers provides 18 of the 20 municipal councils. The municipality has been officially bilingual since 2006, and in 2008 it introduced bilingual place names. In 2012, the newly designed Klein Strehlitzer Ring (market square) was released and the restored Nepomuk figure located there was consecrated.
