The Kleine Henne is an 18 km long, southeastern and orographically right tributary of the Henne in North Rhine-Westphalia , Germany . The stream flows in the Hochsauerlandkreis , mainly through the urban area of Meschede . The landscape protection area Oberlauf der Kleine Henne is located northwest of Westernbödefeld .

geography

course

The Kleine Henne rises as Gelmecke in the Rothaargebirge about 1000 m southwest of Gellinghausen . The source is located on the northeast slope of the Bracht ( 725.7  m above sea  level ) at 636.5  m above sea level. NHN in the area of the city of Schmallenberg . From here the Kleine Henne flows primarily in a northerly direction. After about 2.8 km of the river, the brook leaves the Schmallenberg urban area and enters that of Meschede . The brook Bonacker , Höringhausen , Drasenbeck , Löllinghausen , Beringhausen , Heggen and Löttmaringhausen flows through it , before it flows into the Henne tributary of the Ruhr in the south of the Mesched town center on the right at an altitude of 263  m .

Catchment area and tributaries

On its 18 km long path, the Kleine Henne experiences a height difference of 374 m, which corresponds to a mean bed gradient of 20.8 ‰. It drains a 39.832 km² catchment area via the Henne, Ruhr and Rhine to the North Sea .

The longest tributary is the 4.6 km long Remblinghausen Brook with a 3.951 km² catchment area.

The following table is based on the water station and takes the Gelmecke as the source stream by name. According to its historical name ( German basic map ), the Gelmecke is a tributary of the Doorne, which in turn flows into the (less water-bearing) Kleine Henne! The name is apparently based on the retained direction of flow to the northwest (Doorne: north to northeast) and the course along the important road to Meschede , which the named Kleine Henne follows shortly after Westernbödefeld .
