Small youth series
The small youth series was a popular series of books aimed at young people with stories from the genres of crime , adventure and science fiction in the GDR . There appeared new publications and translations of both contemporary authors as well as classics.
Brief edition history
The series was published every six months from 1950 to 1965 by Verlag Kultur & Progress Berlin , in the format 16 x 11.5 cm. The single issue cost a constant 35 pfennigs. The envelope was provided with a colored illustration. Initially started with a circulation of 90,000 copies, the series sold 191,000 copies per issue in 1955, and the scarcity of paper limited further increases in circulation. From 1966, the series was replaced by the series Krimi Abenteuer Phantastik .
