The Kleine Kulm is a wooded mountain and at about 626  m above sea level. NN the highest elevation in Franconian Switzerland , the northern part of the Franconian Alb . It is located near Körbeldorf in the Bavarian district of Bayreuth ( Germany ).

Geographical location

The Kleine Kulm rises on the eastern edge of Franconian Switzerland in the Franconian Switzerland-Veldenstein Forest Nature Park . Its summit is 1.1 km northeast of Körbeldorf, 1.1 km east -south- east of Kosbrunn , 1.5 km south-south-east of Büchenbach , 2 km south-west of Kaltenthal and 2.5 km west-north-west of Buchau ; they are all districts of Pegnitz .

The mountain is located on the watershed of Wiesent the west and Pegnitz in the East: while the water of on the northwest side hill Warenberg ( 608  m ) springing semolina Bach by Püttlach reached the Wiesent flows that the swelling on the Bergosthang Buchauer Bach by Fichtenohe the Pegnitz.

In large parts of the mountain are part of the protected landscape Franconian Switzerland Veldenstein Forest (CDDA No. 396107;. 2001 expelled; 1004.2418 square kilometers), which up to the example in North-South direction leading through the Bergosthang Bundesautobahn 9 ranges.

Observation tower

Already after the Second World War , an observation tower was built on the Kleiner Kulm , the platform of which was 7 m high. The wooden structure fell apart and was torn down.

In 2000 a new, 15 m high wooden observation tower with a covered platform was built at a height of 637  m . From there, an unrestricted panoramic view in all directions is possible. An information board with directional arrows shows the names of visual targets and their distances in kilometers.
