The Wels-Grieskirchen Clinic is a hospital for patients in the central region of Upper Austria . As a religious hospital, it is an institution of the Congregation of the Sisters of Mercy of the Holy Cross and the Franciscan Sisters of Vöcklabruck.

history

The Wels-Grieskirchen Clinic was created from a merger of the Kreuzschwestern Wels Clinic and the St. Franziskus Hospital in Grieskirchen as well as the Wels Psychiatry. As a result of the results of the Upper Austrian hospital reform, the Order of the Sisters of Mercy of the Holy Cross and the Order of the Franciscan Sisters of Vöcklabruck decided on May 3, 2007 to merge the two hospitals in Wels and Grieskirchen and, as of January 1, 2008, as a single hospital at the previous locations respectively. The integration of the Wels Psychiatric Clinic was also agreed with Upper Austria's Gesundheits- und Spitals AG. The reasons for this step were above all to secure the location of all facilities and to optimize patient care in the Wels-Wels Land-Grieskirchen- Eferding supply region . In addition, on behalf of the hospital reform, the pooling of services should ensure that common resources are used. This was associated with savings and thus support for the coverage of the legal entity portion of both sponsors.
