The Klostergasse (also Klosterstrasse ) is one of the historic suburbs of Meissen in the district of Meissen , Saxony . The district Klostergasse is located in the northern center of the city, immediately northwest of the Albrechtsburg . It is located near the Elbe above the eastern end of the Schottenberg tunnel . Neighboring towns are Meißen- Fischergasse , Meißen- Niedermeisa and the monastery of the Holy Cross . The street Klostergasse, today Leipziger Straße, got its name because it leads from the old town in the direction of the monastery to the Holy Cross. The suburb of Klostergasse, located along the road, was part of the rural community of Fischergasse, which was formed in the 19th century , was incorporated into Meisatal on April 1, 1921, and came to Meissen seven years later.
