List of apple varieties

The Knebusch is a table apple that comes from the Börde Sittensen . The very red, bell-shaped apple is early bearing, ripens in September and tastes best fresh from the tree.

This apple variety is named after its discoverer Johann Knebusch, a farmer from Sittensen .

According to the story, he found this apple and multiplied it. However, there is a second story according to which he received this apple as a gift from his future son-in-law. It is said to have been a souvenir from the USA , where the apple is said to have been quite widespread.

There is no evidence which of the two stories corresponds to the truth.
