The Seestermüher lemon apple , also called golden yellow Renette or cabbage apple , is a cultivar of the cultivated apple (Malus domestica) .
description
It is an aromatic winter apple with an abundance of large to very large fruits. The skin is greenish-yellow at first and then turns lemon-yellow. The fruits are often rusted at the stem pit.
The sweet and sour tasting apples are harvested in October. They can be consumed immediately, but can also be stored until around January and are suitable for pressing.
The Seestermüher lemon apple is named after the town of Seestermühe in Schleswig-Holstein .
The Seestermüher lemon apple is threatened with extinction and is therefore only of regional importance. In 2007 it was voted “ Orchard variety of the year ” in Northern Germany .
