history
Kochanowitz was in 1742 with most of Silesia Prussian and was from 1816 part of the circle Lublinitz in the administrative district of Opole . In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 185 votes were cast in Kochanowitz for staying with Germany and 203 for joining Poland. In the Kochanowitz manor district, 81 votes were for Germany and 17 for Poland. The constituency of Lublinitz, to which Kochanowitz belonged, was subsequently divided between Germany and Poland. Like the district town of Lublinitz, Kochanowitz fell to Poland and lay directly on the new state border. Some parts of today's municipality - the villages of Lubotzken, Ostrow, Pawelken - remained in the Weimar Republic. In interwar Poland, Kochanowice was part of the Silesian Autonomous Voivodeship .
After the German occupation in World War II , Kochanowice became part of Poland again in 1945.
