history

Pawonkau was in 1742 with most of Silesia Prussian and was from 1816 part of the circle Lublinitz in the administrative district of Opole . In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 158 votes were cast in Pawonkau for staying with Germany and 147 for joining Poland. In the manor district there were 57 votes for Germany and 68 for Poland. The constituency of Lublinitz, to which Pawonkau belonged, was subsequently divided between Germany and Poland. Like the district town of Lublinitz, Pawonkau fell to Poland and was right on the new state border. The current municipal area was torn apart by the demarcation - the villages of Gwosdzian , Klein-Lagiewnik, Koschwitz, Skrzidlowitz remained in the Weimar Republic. In interwar Poland, Pawonków was part of the Silesian Autonomous Voivodeship .

After the German occupation in World War II , Pawonków became part of Poland again in 1945.
