The Koenig Bicycle Team ( Russian Кёниг Байсикл Тим ) is a Russian Kaliningrad , formerly Konigsberg, resident Radwanderverein . It has the legal form of a non-commercial partnership (ru. Некоммерческое партнёрство) and organizes bike tours in Kaliningrad Oblast and beyond. With the detailed documentation of the bike tours on its website, the association also makes a contribution to cultural studies in the Kaliningrad Oblast.

history

The idea of ​​cycling together came about when the Kaliningrad - Petrovo - Zelenogradsk and back cycling race was held in September 2000 , the so-called Tour de Cranz . In October of this year, Oleg Jakowenko, Dmitri Logunow, Sergei Mesenow and Sergei Schkinder then undertook a tour from Chernyakhovsk to Kaliningrad, which is seen as the founding act of the Koenig Bicycle Team. In 2001 eleven tours were undertaken, most of which led to the Samland Baltic coast. The first tour abroad took place in July 2002 in Juodkrantė, Lithuania, on the Curonian Spit . In August 2002, two multi-day tours were undertaken for the first time, one from Zelenogradsk via Klaipėda to Sovetsk and the other to Lake Wystiter . In January 2003, Chleb Gazura and Sergei Mesenow cycled across the frozen Fresh Lagoon to the Kaliningrad Maritime Canal. When the season opened in March 2003, 13 participants were already there. In summer 2003 u. a. Took tours to Vilnius , Białystok and Gdansk . 20 cyclists took part in the season opening in March 2005. In May 2005, seven cyclists completed the Świnoujście - Rostock - Gedser - Copenhagen - Malmö - Ystad - Świnoujście tour in eight days . The Czech Republic was also crossed this summer. Andrei Dolgopalez and Sergei Mesenow made the first night trip in May 2006 from Sovetsk via Krasnosnamensk to Chernyakhovsk. In the summer, four participants went on a bike tour in motherland Russia for the first time, from Moscow via Yaroslavl and Kostroma to Vladimir .

Around one hundred cyclists took part in the season opening in March 2007. After having only informally agreed on the Internet so far, in view of the large number of participants it was now necessary to organize as a non-commercial partnership. In April 2007, three participants went on a bike tour in Crimea . In July 2009 a bike tour was made from Kaliningrad to Saint Petersburg . In August of the same year, the Latvian Gauja National Park was visited. At the turn of 2010/2011 Sergei Mesenow, Andriana Mesenowa and Wladimir Pustylnik were in Israel. Around 180 cyclists took part in the season opening in March 2011. This year, for the first time, the number of tours carried out was 50. In January 2014, the club held a 200 km certification for the first time . In May of this year a tour from Berlin to Kaliningrad was completed.

In May 2015, the little daughter of the club's chairman Dariana Mesonova was on a tour of the Curonian Spit with her own bike. Since then, the association has also organized tours for and with children. 275 cyclists took part in the season opening in March 2016. The season opening in March 2019 had 217 participants. In March 2020, at the initiative of Olga Sobolewa, members of the association erected a makeshift wooden bridge for pedestrians in the Zelenogradsk district on the route of the old road from Olchowoje (Korwingen) to Krasnovka (Markehnen) over the tributary to the Reka Mutschnaja (Thierenberger Mühlenfließ). Due to the COVID-19 pandemic , the association did not organize any tours between March 29 and May 13, 2020.
