Kolaka is a government district ( Kabupaten ) in the southeast of the Indonesian island of Sulawesi . The district is part of the Sulawesi Tenggara Province ( Southeast Sulawesi ).
geography
The administrative district borders in the north on the district ( Kecamatan ) Wawo in the administrative district ( Kabupaten ) Kolaka Utara, in the east on the administrative district Kolaka Timur (with the districts Ueesi, Ulumwoi, Mowewe, Lalolae, Loea, Ladongi, Polipolia and Aere). In the southeast and south, the administrative district of Bombana with the districts of Mata Usu and Poleang Barat forms the border, in the west the Gulf of Bone ( Teluk Bone ) forms a natural border.
The administrative district has existed since the province was founded in 1964, but in 2003 and 2013 together gave over two thirds of its territory to the two newly formed districts of Kolaka Utara (North Kolaka) and Kolaka Timur (East Kolaka). The capital is Kolaka .
