Konopáč (German Konopatsch ) is a district of the city of Heřmanův Městec in the Czech Republic . It is located two kilometers southwest of the city center of Heřmanův Městec and belongs to the Okres Chrudim .

geography

Konopáč is located in the northern reaches of Iron Hill ( Iron Mountains ) in the valley of the stream Konopka or Zlatý potok ( Goldbach ) which supplies a cascade of ponds (Martin, Herout, Hrouska, Rohlík and Konopáč) here. The Přelouč – Prachovice railway runs to the east . The Skalka rises to the east.

Neighboring towns are Horní Raškovice and Dolní Raškovice in the north, Průhon and Heřmanův Městec in the Northeast, Na Průhoně and Radlin in the southeast, Kostelec u Heřmanova Městce in the south, Na Obíckách and Vyžice in the southwest, Vlastějov and Načešice the west and Stojice in the northwest.

history

The Goldbachtal was uninhabited until the 19th century. The Josephine land survey shows that the road from Vyžice to Heřmanův Městec crossed the valley at the location of today's location and that there were six smaller ponds upstream; the lowest pond of the cascade was the Konopatsch . At the Skalka there was a quarry with a single house. Later a single Konopáč house was built on the road.

In 1832 the Heřmanmiestetz merchant and councilor Antonín Vambera bought the field with the house from farmer Josef Klaus. Vambera had the house demolished and a brick factory built in its place. Shortly afterwards, he founded a small settlement in the valley and had a bath house built at an allegedly medicinal spring. The name Elisenthal ( Eliščino Ůdolí ) was transferred to the new settlement from the Elisenbad ( Eliščiny lázně ) opened in 1835 and named after Vambera's wife . In 1835, Elisenthal consisted of the bathhouse, a brickworks and a few residential buildings and stone quarries. The Elisenthal became a destination for the residents of Heřmanmiestetz on weekends. In a dispute over a denied license to drink in the Elisenbad , Vambera resigned from his position as a councilor in 1836. Until the middle of the 19th century, Elisenthal belonged to the possessions of the town of Heřmanmiestetz. Since the Elisenbad did not bring the owner Vambera the profit he had hoped for without the liquor license and the sales of his brickworks did not meet his expectations, he had the business closed. Together with his brother-in-law František Rudolf Patočka and the engineer Antonín Hauslohner, he founded in 1848 under the name “A. Vambera a Comp. “A company for the manufacture of matches.

After the abolition of patrimonial Konopáč formed from 1849 a district of the town of Heřmanův Městec in the judicial district of Chrudim . From 1868 the settlement belonged to the political district of Chrudim . Match production in Konopáč ceased in 1868. The buildings were then used as an inn and farm building. In 1869 there were 36 people living in Konopáč. The municipal brickworks built above the Konopáč pond stopped operating in 1887. Since the end of the 19th century Konopáč was no longer run as a district of Heřmanův Městec. At that time, more houses were being built in Konopáč. Quarries and sand pits were operated on the heights on both sides of Konopáč. In 1890 there were 193 people in Konopáč, compared to 210 in 1900.

In 1904, the Heřmanův Městec swimming club had the Konopáč pond desludged and converted into a swimming pool, which was later expanded to include changing rooms, a diving tower and social building. In 1930 the population of Konopáč fell to 134. In 1932, the expansion of the swimming pool into a modern natural pool with a restaurant, which was opened in 1939, began. The construction was financed by the Heřmanův Městec City Savings Bank. The state company Restaurace Pardubice , which took over the bathing establishment in 1964, built a holiday cottage settlement and a holiday camp on the grounds of the natural swimming pool. The bathroom became increasingly neglected during this time. In 1968 the Svazarm Motorsport Club took over the Konopáč Natural Bath and bought the buildings belonging to the Pardubice Restaurant. At the site of the former Elisenbad, he had a car campsite built. Since 1974 Konopáč has again been designated as a district of Heřmanův Městec. On January 1, 2015, 128 people lived in the town's 36 houses, most of the 162 houses are not permanently inhabited. Konopáč is now a resort.
