Conrad Bergius

Conrad Bergius (also Konrad Berg (ius), born July 25, 1592 in Stettin , † August 13, 1642 in Bremen ) was a German Protestant theologian.

Life

After the early death of his father Konrad Bergius (1544–1592) he was brought up and advised by his mother and brother Johann . He studied philosophy and theology in Danzig with Jacob Fabricius (* 1551; † April 1, 1629 in Danzig) and Bartholomäus Keckermann . Then he was court master of a Johann von Nostiz. In 1624 Bergius went to Frankfurt (Oder) , became professor of theology and in 1629 rector of the Viadrina . From 1624 to 1629 he also held the first pastoral position at the Reformed Church there.

In parts of his theological teaching he was attacked by the Lübeck superintendent Nikolaus Hunnius and the Dresden court preacher Matthias Hoë .

In 1629 Bergius went to Bremen, where he became professor of theology and vice rector at the Academic Gymnasium and preacher at St. Ansgarii . 1634 he rose to the 1st preacher. This is also where he was buried.
