Konrad Dollinger

Konrad Dollinger (born June 22, 1840 in Biberach an der Riss ; † October 22, 1925 in Stuttgart ), also Conrad Dollinger, was a German architect and university professor .

Dollinger was a son of Biberach innkeeper Dollinger (called Engelwirt ) from his second marriage to Johanna geb. Flatter. He attended the secondary school in Biberach, which is now called Dollinger secondary school after him . There he had drawing lessons from Johann Baptist Pflug . From 1855 to 1860 he studied at the Stuttgart Polytechnic and studied with Christian Friedrich von Leins for two years .

Inspired by a trip to Italy (1862–1863), he directed the construction of Montfort Castle in Langenargen , which King Wilhelm I of Württemberg had built for his son, Crown Prince Karl.

He then traveled to Paris until he became a railway construction inspector in Aulendorf in 1867 . Among other things, he created the train stations in Wolfegg , Waldsee , and Saulgau .

In 1870 he became a teacher for building construction at the Stuttgart building trade school , and in 1871 at the Stuttgart Polytechnic.

The autographed travel sketches from Germany, France and Italy that he published are highly valued as examples of sketching .
