Köppelsdorf is a district of Sonneberg in the district of Sonneberg in Thuringia .

Köppelsdorf is located on the eastern outskirts of Sonneberg on Landesstraße 1150 in a rural area close to nature. The federal road 89 is easily accessible. The district has a suburban character.
history
The village was first mentioned in documents in 1317. There are several schools in the district (state school, elementary school, the electronic training center, further education and retraining). As a result of the construction of the Sonneberg – Lauscha railway line in 1885 and 1886, several porcelain factories were established in the village. On April 1, 1923, the Köppelsdorf, Hüttensteinach and Steinbach communities were formed into the Köppelsdorf community, which was incorporated into Sonneberg on July 1, 1950. The Evangelical Lutheran parish of Köppelsdorf and the Diakonie of the Superintendent are based in Steinbach .
