action

The workforce at the police station in the (fictitious) Swedish provincial town of Högboträsk (incorrectly also Högsboträsk in the German media ) has an extremely quiet day-to-day work. Catching a runaway cow is one of the most delicate tasks. The superordinate authority therefore sends the pretty inspector Jessica to the village, who announces the planned closure of the department. It should be completed within the next three months. The mood of the village police is at its absolute low. “Now we have to act as quickly as possible!” They all agree.

The two police officers Jacob and Lasse decide to "improve" the crime statistics in order to convince Jessica Lindblad that the police station in her town has a right to exist. They smear walls with graffiti, instigate a well-known alcoholic to shoplift in a corner shop and - even if accidentally - let the sausage snack go up in flames. Her colleagues Benny and Agneta catch the two in the act, but let themselves be convinced that this strategy is the right one to save the police station.

Jessica becomes suspicious, however, and wants to get to the bottom of the incidents in the village. She investigates and speaks to the villagers. The four police officers have to keep inventing new crimes and alleged perpetrators in order to keep up the threat. Finally, without the knowledge of his colleagues, Benny stages the kidnapping of his neighbor boy by the drinker mentioned above. He himself wants to put the alleged kidnapper in a lonely hunting lodge and thus impress Jessica. But the unsuspecting chief of the police force lets a special task force move out of the city. The cops' cheating is exposed.

However, Jessica has long since taken the police force to her heart through her stays in the small town and even started a romance with Jacob. She decides to skip her investigation report into the incidents. Nevertheless, she cannot prevent the station from being closed. Jacob has a solution: As the "pizza police", the troops are now delivering pizzas in their repainted police cars, especially since the sausage snack bar has been destroyed. At the end of the film, Jessica stops at the former police station that has been converted into a pizzeria and orders a pizza from Jacob.

criticism

"Light comedy without great staging claims, which offers funny, but rather harmless insights into a small-town world and, on the side, swipes at the same poses in US police films."
