Kōsei Inoue ( Japanese 井上 康 生 , Inoue Kōsei ; born May 15, 1978 in Miyakonojō ) is a successful Japanese judoka .

He celebrated his greatest international success when he won the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000 . In 2003 in Osaka , the Japanese won his third World Cup title, which qualified him for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens , where the Japanese defending champion suffered his first defeat in the light heavyweight division in years. In the quarter-finals up to 100 kilograms, Inoue met Elco van der Geest from the Netherlands , who countered Inoue's special technique Uchi-mata (inner thigh throw) in this fight . Finally, the Japanese lost to the Dutch with ippon by seoi-nage (shoulder throw ). When he then lost in the consolation round to the rather unknown Azerbaijanist Miraliyev, he did not resume training until three months later after the games to prepare for the Kano Cup (judo competition in Japan), which he won.

The technical repertoire especially for uchi-mata and seoi-nage of the three-time world champion in the light heavyweight division accompanies him throughout his judo career. Since he ended his active career, he has been training junior Judoka.
