Kostja Kalonda Didier Mushidi (born June 18, 1998 in Ukkel , Belgium ) is a German basketball player . He plays for the Basketball Löwen Braunschweig .

Mushidi is 1.94 meters tall and particularly plays in the position of the shooting guard .

Career

Mushidi played in the youth of ART Düsseldorf and from the 2012/13 season in the JBBL team of the team Bonn / Rhöndorf .

During the 2013/14 season he recorded his first appearances in the men's team of the Dragons Rhöndorf in the 2nd Bundesliga season ProB , the third highest German division.

In summer 2015 he moved to the French club Strasbourg IG . An important reason for this decision for Mushidi was the prospect of being able to train under Vincent Collet , who, in addition to his work in Strasbourg, is also the coach of the French national team . In September 2015, Mushidi took part in the European U18 all-star game.

Mushidi only played a six-minute assignment for Strasbourg's professional team in the French first division in the 2015/16 season and otherwise only received playing time in the youth team in the French U21 league. He left SIG after a year and was presented as a new addition to the Serbian first division club KK Mega Leks in June 2016 .

At the end of March 2017, he signed up for the NBA draft . In April 2017, he took part in the “Nike Hoop Summit”, a game of a U19 world team against the USA, in Portland (US state Oregon ) and was the best basket hunter of the team made up of players from seven different countries with 14 points. In June 2017, he withdrew his name from the list for the NBA draft.

In February 2019, Mushidi moved to OKK Belgrade within the Serbian league . He then returned to Germany and was signed by Bundesliga club Basketball Löwen Braunschweig during the 2019 summer break . In mid-December 2019, the Braunschweiger parted from Mushidi with immediate effect. According to the association, there were disciplinary reasons for this step. Until then, Mushidi had played eight Bundesliga games for Braunschweig and achieved an average of 11.6 points per mission. In the summer break of 2020 he returned to Lower Saxony, which, according to the association, gave him “a new chance”.

National team

At the U16 European Championship in 2014, when he scored the third best value of the tournament in the points per game category of all participating players, Mushidi was just as much a part of the German national team as he was at the U18 European Championship in 2015.

In spring 2016, he led the German U18 national team to their first title win at the Albert Schweitzer tournament . In the final against Serbia he posted 25 points and 11 rebounds. He was named the best player of the tournament.

In the summer of 2016, Mushidi finished fourth at the European Championships in Helsinki with the U20 national team. At the U18 European Championships in 2016, he achieved fourth place with the German team and, together with Isaiah Hartenstein, was the best point collector in the DBB selection during the tournament . At the U-20 European Championships in Germany in 2018, Mushidi reached third place and led the German team together with Filip Stanic as the best basket shooter (13.6 points on average). He was also voted into the "first five of the tournament".

In mid-November 2018, Mushidi was appointed to the senior national team for the first time by national coach Henrik Rödl .

Personal

Mushidi's mother is Belgian , his father Russian . He was born in Belgium and lived in Germany from the age of two. His grandfather comes from the Congo.
