Kotzfeld is a district in the Bärbroich district of Bergisch Gladbach .

history

The name Kotzfeld goes back to a medieval or early modern individual farm, which is recorded in the original cadastre under this name. It was listed in the church registers as early as the 17th century. In 1905 there were three courtyards here with a total of 16 residents. There are different interpretations of the determinant Kotz . It is possible that there is a connection with low-quality meat, i.e. with the waste from slaughtered cattle, with parts of the intestines not being properly disposed of. According to the vernacular interpretation, the settlement name refers to a kortes or kottes field , that is, to a field of inferior quality.

According to the overview of the government district of Cöln , the place categorized as a "farm" owned a house in 1845. At that time there were six people living in the village, all of them Catholic.
