Dresherscheid is a district in the Bärbroich district of Bergisch Gladbach .

history

The village of Dresherscheid is a medieval hamlet that was created in the great Rodeepoch between 1000 and 1300. The settlement north of the Branderhof is mentioned in the original cadastre .

According to the overview of the government district of Cöln , the place categorized as “farm goods” had two houses in 1845. At that time there were 15 people living in the village, all of them Catholic. The spelling of the place name at that time was Drees-Herscheid. In 1905 the place had eight buildings with 48 inhabitants. At that time it belonged to the Immekeppel district . The basic word herscheid was also used in the settlement names Ottoherscheid and Wüstenherscheid . It can be deduced from the earlier form Haenscheid . Haen represents a subsidiary form of "Hain / Hohn" (in field names = enclosed forest), while "Scheid" generally denotes a border (also wooded elevation). As a result, herscheid can be interpreted as a tree line or border forest .
