Królewice (Postomino)

Królewice (German Krolowstrand ) was a village in Western Pomerania , which belonged to the Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship in the area of ​​the rural community Postomino ( Pustamin ) in the district of Sławno ( Schlawe ) and has not existed since around 1957.

Geographical location

Królewice was on the east bank of the Jezioro Wicko ( Vietzker See ) and only two kilometers from the Baltic coast. Only an insignificant side street from Górsko (north of Sławno ) passes the former site of the old farming and fishing village on its way to Wicko Morskie ( Vietzkerstrand ).

Place name

The name of the place describes the beach section belonging to Gut Krolow (Królewo) on Lake Vietzker, formerly also called Krolowscher Beach .

history

Krolowstrand originally belonged to the Krolow fiefdom. In 1784 only a few fishermen's cottages were mentioned. The place grew to its actual size especially in the 19th century and in 1928 in the course of the Prussian reforms it was detached from the previous manor district of Krolow and raised to an independent rural community.

As such, Krolowstrand belonged to the municipalities of Görshagen (Górsko), Krolow (Królewo), Marsow (Marszewo), Schlackow (Złakowo) and Vietzkerstrand (Wicko Morskie) in the administrative district of Schlackow in the Schlawe i district until 1945 . Pom. in the administrative district of Köslin in the Prussian province of Pomerania . In March 1945 Krolowstrand, with its 300 inhabitants, was occupied by the Red Army. In 1947 the last German residents were expelled. The place received the Polish name Królewice. The village office now belongs to Gmina Postomino in the Powiat Sławieński of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship (previously Stolp Voivodeship until 1998 ).

Królewice has ceased to exist as a village since around 1957. The buildings were demolished because the former German military training area was being expanded for the Polish military.

Local division until 1945

Before 1945 there were two places in the municipality of Krolowstrand:

  1. Görshäger Strand , single homestead (three-family house), located directly on the coastal dunes, 1 kilometer north of the village
  2. Waldkaten (Polish: Szyszków), four forest workers' houses, belonging to the State Forestry Office, located 500 meters east of the northern end of Krolowstrand.

Before 1945, the residents of Krolowstrand were all Protestant . Until 1870/80 the church in Krolow (Królewo) was also the place of worship for the residents of Krolostrand. After it was demolished, the village church in Lanzig (Łącko) was "her" church. The parish of Lanzig belonged to the parish of Rügenwalde in the church province of Pomerania of the Church of the Old Prussian Union .

school

Before 1945, the municipality of Krolowstrand had its own school. It was one class for up to 60 children. The school house dates from 1884.
