Kristján Jónsson

Kristján Jónsson (born March 4, 1852 in Gautlönd (Iceland), † July 2, 1926 ) was an Icelandic politician (non-party) and Prime Minister .

From 1893 to 1905 and from 1908 to 1913 he was a member of the Icelandic parliament, the Althing . He replaced Björn Jónsson as Prime Minister on March 14, 1911 and remained in this office until July 24, 1912. His successor was Hannes Hafstein .

Two of his brothers were also politicians, Pétur Jónsson (born August 28, 1858, † January 20, 1922, member of Althing between 1894 and 1922, Minister of Industry between 1920 and 1922) and Steingrímur Jónsson (born December 27, 1867, † December 29 1956, member of the Althing between 1906 and 1915).

Kristján was the father-in-law of the future Prime Minister Sigurður Eggerz .
