Kais completed his first international tournaments in 1998 with his brother Kaarel Kais . At the Mallorca Open 2002 he competed for the first time with his long-term partner Rivo Vesik . Two years later, the duo finished 19th at the 2004 European Championships . At the 2005 World Cup , they finished fifth after losing to later World Cup thirds Julius Brink and Kjell Schneider (1: 2) and the new champions Márcio Araújo and Fábio Luiz . After they were again defeated by a German duo ( Klemperer / Schneider) at the European Championship in The Hague in 2006 , they repeated their 2007 World Cup result in Gstaad . Before that, they had won the open tournament in Zagreb . Shortly afterwards they just missed a medal at the European Championships in Valencia with a three-set defeat against David Klemperer and Eric Koreng .

The next year, Kais competed in Hamburg with Ragnar Pahn and failed in the first round against the new European champions Reinder Nummerdor and Richard Schuil . A month later, Kais / Vesik took part in the Olympic tournament in Beijing , where they did not get beyond the group stage. At the 2009 World Cup they reached the round of 16, where they lost again to Klemperer / Koreng. The subsequent European Championship in Sochi with the end in the preliminary round was the last joint appearance of the Estonian duo. In 2010 Kais completed two tournaments in Prague and Gstaad with Oliver Venno .
