history

First mention

Krone is first mentioned in a document from 1664 as Kötterhof Kroener. Today it is assumed that it must have been made between 1450 and 1600. It is considered to be the nucleus of today's Krone district.

Manorial rule Crengeldanz

The Kotten initially belonged to the so-called manor of the House of Crengeldanz . In 1664 the now abandoned farm was leased.

industrialization

In 1705, Krone still consisted of a single farm, from the cadastral registers of the municipality of Langendreer , to which Krone now belonged, it is clear that a second building was only built in 1839 in what is now the Witten district. In 1885, however, 800 people were already living in Krone. Due to its location between Crengeldanz, where a large glass factory and a brick factory had now settled, and Heven with its mines , houses for the workers were built in Krone . The municipality of Langendreer built a school in Krone as early as 1856 .

Territorial reform

In the course of the municipal reform of 1929, the Langendreer office was dissolved. Until 1929, Krone belonged directly to the municipality of Langendreer. In the course of the incorporation of Langendreer into Bochum , the Langendreer districts Papenholz , Crengeldanz and Krone were separated from Langendreer and assigned to the city of Witten.

Crown today

The district of Krone consists mainly of three to four- story residential developments .

religion

Evangelical culture and event center Krone

In 1894 Protestant Christians founded an association in Krone with the aim of setting up a so-called toddler room (a forerunner of today's kindergartens ). In 1906 a community hall with an adjoining kindergarten was finally built. Until 1929 the parish hall belonged to the Evangelical Church Community in Langendreer, from 1929 to Witten. In 1976 a new community center was built, on October 31, 1994 Krone was given the status of its own community, and the community center became the Krone Church of the Resurrection . In 2005 the Church of the Resurrection was united with the Christ Church Congregation, which also belongs to Witten-Mitte, and the Evangelical Church Congregation Heven to form the Trinity Congregation. Due to the declining number of members, the closing of the Church of the Resurrection was discussed in the course of 2007. After protests from the population, parishioners finally founded a support group to keep the church as a cultural center . At the end of 2007, this support group was given the power of the keys , the building itself remains in the possession of the municipality, and maintenance is financed by the support group. On Sunday, December 30, 2007, the church was divorced during a final service. On January 19th, 2008 the "Evangelical Culture and Event Center Krone" was opened.
