Krukow is a district of the municipality of Kuckssee in the Mecklenburg Lake District in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

Geography and traffic

Krukow is located in a hilly landscape shaped by the Ice Age. The bird sanctuary at Lake Malliner is located in the municipality . The place is about ten kilometers southwest of Neubrandenburg and three kilometers northeast of Penzlin on the federal highway 192 .

history

The village emerged from a Slavic settlement. The place name could be derived from Kruku (raven) and mean "Rabenort" or "Place of Kruk". Documents prove that the "Rabendorf" was one of the villages of the Broda Monastery as early as 1170 . There were farmers and a village mayor. The estate was owned by the von Kargow, von Bardenfleth , von Maltzan , von Kospoth families and, from 1775, again by the Maltzans. In 1702 a relative of the Maltzans, Gustav Friedrich von Walsleben, received the fiefdom of the villages of Krukow and Lübkow, which he had to sell again in 1725. After 1775 the estate returned to the Maltzans. The manor house was built in neo-Gothic style around 1850.

In 1938 there was no more collection, the 713 hectares were moved to 29 hereditary estates in 1933. At that time there were 105 inhabitants in Krukow.

On January 1, 2012, the previously independent municipalities of Krukow, Lapitz and Puchow merged to form the municipality of Kuckssee.
